Laser Therapy for the Immune System

Hello friends,
In this time of stress, I am sharing this information with you to empower you and your communities. The following newsletter was shared by Summus Medical Laser. Please reach out if you have any need for support at this time.

Dear Summus Medical Laser Family,
Amid the Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, our thoughts are with you, your loved ones and your patients. As you know, Summus Medical Laser provides consistent and accurate scientific evidence about the therapeutic effects of photobiomodulation (PBM, or laser therapy), specifically, the physiological response to targeted wavelengths at the cellular level. While the primary objective of Class IV laser therapy is to treat various ailments directly, we want to remind you that the cascading benefit of treatments is the immunological response within the body.”We can further target our treatment protocols toward the immune system by stimulating the lymph nodes or spleen, for example, to amplify the effect on the immune system. Therapeutic laser can be a safe, effective immunomodulator that can be applied to patients of all ages with a wide variety of clinical conditions.1

In a statement released March 14, 2020, World Association of Laser Therapy President Praveen Arany wrote, “…we have been receiving several requests to showcase the possible benefits of PBM treatments in this current health crisis. Many of us have clinical and, perhaps personal experiences with PBM treatment have clearly noted its ability to improve anti-viral response and host immunity showcasing the potential utility of this treatment in the current health crisis. Nonetheless, as far as we are aware there have been no direct, controlled studies to date on the Covid-19 specifically.”In other words, we do have anecdotal cases of laser therapy boosting the immune system, but we do not have studies that specifically studied the effect of PBM on the Covid-19 virus. Please continue to seek new information and guidelines set by global health officials as we navigate this uncertain terrain. We encourage the use of laser therapy in helping all of your patients, especially the elderly and immune compromised. If you have any questions on treatments to aid in healing during this crisis, we are here to answer your questions.
